Vibing with Rob Gronkowski to Bad boys for life, Julian Edelman has a 1-word message for
It’s always a good time when the boys get back together! The same was the case for former Patriots Rob Gronkowski, Julian Edelman, and Danny Amendola. The trio caught up on the 5th anniversary of the New England Patriots‘ triumphant victory over the Kansas City Chiefs in the 2019 AFC Championship at Edelman’s house. The former wide receiver posted a reel of him, Gronk, and Amendola in the hot tub as his dog watched on.
What’s more interesting was the caption he chose for this post. He tagged Tom Brady and wrote, “wya?” He tagged his former quarterback who was obviously missing in the post and asked him where he was at. After all Rob Gronkowski, Julian Edelman, and Danny Amendola formed the core of the Pats offense. However, without Tom Brady in the mix, they will always be incomplete.
The timing of the post was remarkable because, in 2019, Tom Brady put the rumors of him being washed aside when he beat a dominant Kansas City Chiefs led by a young and hungry Patrick Mahomes in one of the closest and most entertaining playoff games that fans have seen. It was a high-scoring game which ended with the Patriots winning the game 37-31.
Julian Edelman and Rob Gronkowski were an integral part of the 2019 Patriots team
Tom Brady threw two interceptions in that game but managed to rack up 348 yards and had one touchdown. A chunk of the Patriots’ scoring came through rushing from Sony Michel and Rex Burkhead who had two touchdowns respectively. Despite Patrick Mahomes’ best efforts, he threw for 295 yards and had 3 touchdowns but he was no match in front of the veteran QB.
That year, the New England Patriots went on to win their sixth and final Super Bowl in the Bill Belichick and Tom Brady era as they beat the Los Angeles Rams and held them to a record-low 3 points. The Pats scored 13 in order to become the champions. It was an unforgettable year for Julian Edelman as the wide receiver became the eighth player in his position to win the coveted Super Bowl MVP award.
It was the lowest-scoring Super Bowl game in NFL history and the game’s MVP did not score a single touchdown but his 10 catches for 141 yards came in crucial times and helped the team win the game ultimately. While this time, it was just the receiving core of Tom Brady comprising Julian Edelman, Rob Gronkowski, and Danny Amendola, hopefully, next time, the quarterback will also be there hanging out!
